So to answer your inevitable question: no, this name has not been picked in honor of Tom Brady.

So we knew way back then that if we had a baby boy, his name would be Brady. Along the road when I was stricken with Baby Fever, I started searching for baby names. (Remember?) I think I saw the name Madden on a baby name site and thought of Joel and Benji Madden from Good Charlotte, not John Madden. Even though I couldn't name you a Good Charlotte tune and am not a fan of the brothers, I thought that name was cool and original. Cool and original scores big in my books.
I suggested Brady Madden to Guy over and over and had it pretty set in my mind that it was my top choice. As usual Guy wasn't in love with it as much as I was, but a couple of weeks ago he had a change of heart and decided that yes, that should be his name.
I had to check out the meanings, hoping for something cool but more importantly not something so horrific that I would have to choose something else. They both happen to be Irish names; Brady means descendant of Bradach and Madden means little dog. Ha!
And yes, I do fully intend for this child to be a football fan - with a name like this how could he possibly not?
