Vaca - Marco Island

I'm back! I've felt so out of the bloggy loop and am happy to be back in it. Florida was great, full of sun and sand and sleep. I didn't get as many pictures as I had hoped because I didn't dedicate much time to photography. There are very few pictures of Guy and I since we were alone and didn't have anyone to take them for us.

We flew into Ft. Myers, picked up our rental car and headed down to Marco Island. The Marriott Resort was amazing. The staff was sincerely friendly and they made everything easy. You never had to park, you just pulled up to the front door, a valet opened your door and said, "Welcome back!" and then took your keys and parked for you. Then when you wanted your car back you called downstairs and told them you needed your car and when you walked downstairs it was waiting there for you. So easy.



We were up on the 9th floor had a great view of the beach and the pool from our balcony. I forgot how loud the ocean is. When you opened our patio door the crashing waves could almost drown out the tv.







That first night we went downstairs to a restaurant called Quinn's that overlooked the beach. The sunset had already begun but we got to see the tail end of it and feel the ocean breeze. The food was not amazing and it was of course overpriced but at a place like that, you're paying for the scenery not the food.






The day we left I was starting to feel slightly under the weather. I ignored it and kept going but on the first morning we were there, I woke up with a full on sinus infection. I called into my doctor here in Kansas and piled up anything I could find at CVS in order to feel better. I didn't care how I felt, I was having fun, damn it.



We had planned on going on a wave runner tour, but when we called down to reserve it that morning we were told all the water activities were cancelled. It was very windy and it was apparently too dangerous. Even with the wind, it ended up being a perfect beach day, warm enough to enjoy the sun but not sweltering hot.



The drinks there were awesome but extremely expensive. On the second night we ventured away from the resort and found a local bar and grill with normal prices. We happened to be there for happy hour and actually got a beer for $1.50 - much better than the $6 we were paying at the resort.




Marco Island was fabulous and very relaxing and now we were ready to do some more driving and head south to Ft. Lauderdale.
