I think the reason why I cherish those early times with the dogs so much, is because it is also the time that Guy and my relationship shifted as well. When we got them we changed. I packed up my apartment and moved in with him and began the transition from dating and falling in love to becoming partners. We were crazy excited about these new puppies and had the best time playing with them, teaching them, loving them. It was one of the best times we've had.
We've grown up right along with the dogs. Where they've grown in size and personality, we have grown up into adults and have much more love and respect for each other. Their lives signify a lot in our own lives.
I know in another few years I'll be looking back on the day our child was born thinking, wow, so much has changed. And I'll be so thankful for all of the memories we've made throughout another transition. All of the scared, uncertain, exciting, thrilling memories that Guy and I have made together.
